About the event

Mount Beauty Primary School is proud to be partnering with Alpine Health, to develop an intergenerational gardening program. The program is centred around four, newly established wicking beds, located on the pondage side of the Mount Beauty Neighbourhood Centre.  In recent weeks, these have been planted up with the assistance of five community participants and students from Mount Beauty Primary School, who come together once a week for an hour.  During the sessions, students have been learning about how the wicking beds work and have been monitoring seedling growth and seed germination, mulching and establishing a composting system.  Our students have enjoyed spending time getting to know the community participants and are learning valuable gardening skills, which they are then able to transfer to our kitchen garden program at school, and their home gardens.  Our sincere thanks to Holly from Alpine Health and the adult participants for sharing their time…
